This course is based on two chapters of the seminal work, "The World's Religions," written by Dr. Huston Smith, who is considered one of the giants of Religious Studies. This book focuses on the key principles and values of the world’s major religions. The class will address the chapters on Confucianism and Daoism since they contrast each other very well and view two sets of documentary series based on "The World's Religions" which were produced by PBS. The second one included both Smith and famed journalist and political commentator Bill Moyers.
