Do double axels and toe jumps awe you? Catch this presentation on various aspects of figure skating by local figure skaters and coaches. The topics covered include figure skating’s main elements (such as jumps, spins, skating skills and artistry), judging system, and rules. This presentation is designed to provide information to increase students' familiarity with figure skating so that they can better understand and enjoy the 2026 Winter Olympics. This is a single lecture on 10/9.

Taeko Hiroi
Anna Miki Genna-Hiroi is a figure skater and coach. She is a US Figure Skating Double Gold Medalist. Jacob Teng is a figure skater. Taeko Hiroi holds a USFS coach certification. Anna and Jacob are Coronado High School students. Taeko Hiroi is a Professor of Political Science at UTEP. They are members of the El Paso Blades Skating Academy.
